Something that I wondered as an NQT/that I get asked about regularly is what to prepare over the summer before starting the school year! So I decided to make this video to help give some ideas of the kinds of things you can do to get organised for the year ahead: 1. Get to know your school & surrounding areas 2. Read transition information & speak to pupils’ previous teacher/s 3. Be aware of probationer expectations & paperwork 4. Build a strong support system & network 5. Plan your classroom layout / things to buy 6. Create a clear filing system for resources 7. Prepare displays 8. Create teaching social media accounts 9. Prepare resources (morning challenges, fast finisher activities, concrete resources) 10. Planning the first day/week of school 11. Getting to know you activities to prepare 12.
