Performer: Sousa's Band Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fučík (1872–1916) was a Czech composer and bandleader, one of the most prominent authors of marches and orchestral compositions of his time. He worked with military bands in Prague, Sarajevo and Budapest and wrote hundreds of compositions - marches, waltzes, overtures and salon pieces. His most famous work is the march Vjezd gladiátorů, which became a worldwide symbol of circus music. Fučík's work is characterized by melodic invention, brilliant instrumentation and energetic rhythm, thanks to which he is one of the most performed composers of military music.
