Preparing and testing materials for the Texas Champs Finals in Dallas on Oct 19-20. We build up a super sturdy version of our "Andys Limbo" obstacle as well as the "lookout tower". Both and some more, elements are part of the finals race for the Texas Champs; for full version see "2019 Texas Champs" track in "empty day" Velocidrone. Andys Limbo building guide: Our best designed lengths/distances: 7ft pole, 60ft distance wire. You need some distance for speed, and too high makes it flow bad. It is very important to design the angle of entrance and exit of the limbo well. The poles (1inch EMT 7ft each) are held up independently using a rebar ground stake at the bottom (set them on a wood plate with a hole to prevent them sinking in mud) and a husky ratchet (to a rebar 10 feet away) on the side. Another set of husky ratchets are used on each side of the wire to tension the wire across. The wire runs over (550 lbs) pulleys on each side. The pulleys are clipped on a carabiner that we on its its turn connect to the EMT pipe with hose clamps. The wire is coated 1/8 inch steel wire (2x 50ft), some hardware to connect the wires in the middle - all materials available at Home depot. As flags markers we use gate legs (5 feet), and tops (7 feet) whatever we have left.
