Case Background: Kouri Richins is accused of murdering her husband, Eric Richins, in March 2022 at their home in Kamas, Utah. Prosecutors allege she laced his Moscow Mule with a fatal dose of fentanyl. Eric, a successful real estate agent and contractor, was found unresponsive in the couple’s bedroom. His death was initially believed to be natural, but a later autopsy determined he died from fentanyl intoxication. According to charging documents, investigators believe the couple’s marriage was under significant strain, with financial pressures mounting. The state also claims she previously attempted to poison him weeks earlier using fentanyl in a sandwich.
