United As One | Andey Fellowes Interview | Bridgwater United Song

United As One is a new song, written by Andey Fellowes about Bridgwater United Football Club. In this interview with Sedgemoor fm’s breakfast show presenter, Dave Englefield, Andey explains how the song came about, the musical references he drew on for this song, and the essence and history of the club he's tried to get across. After the interview, Dave Englefield said, “How many other clubs outside of the top divisions have a song written for them? Andey has done a great job, even more so given his lack of football knowledge. We’ll be supporting the song on air, helping to promote the song, the club and our town”. Bridgwater United FC club chairman, Bob Buckingham says, “It’s unusual for a club at our level to have a song written about them, and it’s very flattering”. In the interview Andey Fellowes explains that he’s tried to captured a bit of the club’s history, nicknames and recent changes within the lyrics, along with the spirit of everyone doing something great, as part of a team, in order to win. He went on to say, “I wanted to include a verse which feels like a battle cry too.” The words he refers to are: "Whether we’re away, or whether we’re at home We’ll make a noise, we will be heard Let Bridgwater be known." Andey, who grew up in Somerset, currently lives in Mexico, where he composes music for video games, podcasters and YouTubers. In the interview he admits, until recently he’s not had much interest in football. “I fell asleep at the only two matches I’ve been too,” he says. He goes on to admit that writing this song has helped him understand the passion fans have for the game and what football can do for community spirit. It's possible that Andey's lack of interest in football has also actually helped him write this piece. Often football songs are written by fans who want to be musicians, where the Bridgwater United song is written by someone who is clearly a musician and who took the time to listen to many football songs, ruling out the bad ones, before settling on a few influences.
