Today we're going to be taking a look at and installing the LED trailer mini clearance or side marker lights with amber LEDs and a clear lens. This is what our light looks like installed. As you can see, even in a bright room it still puts off a good amount of light. This could be a great choice for you, if you need to just replace lights or even if you're just wanting to upgrade to a superior LED. What I mean by that is, compared to this traditional incandescent light that I have here, obviously you can see it's much smaller in size, it's a lot brighter, it takes less power to run than your incandescent and you don't have to worry about any brittle filaments or having to replace any burned out bulbs. What separates this light from any of the others, is it's clear lens. You're not going to notice it as much, when the light's turned off and depending on your application, that's a look you might want to be going for. The light has two diodes and is DOT compliant, which means it'll be legal in most states.I'll give you a few measurements now and these will help you deciding if the light will fit with your trailer. It's two and a half inches wide, it's an inch and a sixteenth tall here in the center, five eighths of an inch deep and from the center of each bolt hole the distance between that is an inch and seven eighths. So, the back of the light has a flat surface, with our two wires coming out of it. It is sonically sealed, which means it is water proof, but we don't recommend completely submersing it, especially when the power is on.Now, a couple of things I like most about this light, is I personally like the look of the clear lens and another thing I really like, is pretty much maintenance free. Once you get it installed, you really don't have to worry about it much after that speaking of insulation, let me show you how to do that now. First thing you need to do, is determine your mounting location. We're going to mount ours right here and something I do want to point out, there is two wires that come out of the center of the back of the light, so if you don't have the hole drilled in the center, you will need to do that. That way, you can run them through like this. Now, with our wires ran through the hole, we need to find our trailer power wire. We're going to connect it to, with the heat shrink butt connector. If you don't have any, you can find some on etrailer.com. The heat shrink connectors are really nice because they stand up to the elements a lot better and a lot of times that's why your clearance lights fail in the first place is corroded connections. So, this will help prevent any of that.Using a heat gun, we can now shrink our ends. Now, we can take our white ground wire and get that bolted to the chassis. We're going to be using a tuck screw, which is self tapping. You can find some of these on etrailer.com. Now, we can secure our light to the trailer itself. The light does not come with any hardware, so you will either have to use your existing hardware or get some new stuff from the store.Alright, now with the light secured, we went ahead and cleaned up our wiring with a couple of zip ties, went ahead and put power to our trailer and as you can see, our light is functioning properly. And, if you need to do the other side, you just go ahead and repeat the same process. And, that'll finish up our look and install of the LED trailer mini clearance or side marker lights with amber LEDs and clear lenses.
