What is a COA? COA or certificate of analysis is an absolute necessity in a CBD product. A COA for a CBD product is when a specific product is sent to an independent, third party laboratory and can test for a number of things. It is most common for a COA to test the cannabinoids in the product. This test will show the amount of different cannabinoids in a product, make sure the amount of CBD that is advertised is actually in the product, ensure the THC amount meets federal standards etc. Few companies will do a full analysis, which includes testing for cannabinoids as well as testing for pesticides, heavy metals, mold, and other contaminants that can end up in the plant as it grows or is processed into CBD oil. Why doesn’t everyone do a full analysis? Unfortunately, very few companies do a full analysis because they can cost hundreds even into the thousands of dollars and doing those tests for each product and each batch can add up. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad players in the CBD industry who put profits in front of customer safety, so you as the consumer should do your due diligence in which products you consume by checking the COA for each CBD product. Where should I find a COA? Isn’t it nice to know what you are buying BEFORE you buy it? We think so too! We post our COAs on our website that you can find at any time. Each product also has a QR code on the label that you can scan to get to the Lab Report section of our website. Just look at the bottom of the product to find the specific batch number and find it on the Lab Reports section. Transparency is our speciality so you can know you can trust your CBD product. Final thoughts While we wait for some more strict regulation in the CBD space, the best way you can ensure you are getting a safe and effective product is by checking the product’s COA. Be sure to glance through the COA and make sure the testing received a “pass” for the various categories within the test. Have additional questions?
