Laura has a strong background in sports psychology and mental health and wellness. Steve took Laura up her first peak on 11/12/2021. They summited South Table Mountain together outside of Golden, Colorado. Together, this happily married and adventurous couple can be found out on trails all across the Western United States living there best, healthiest and most active lifestyle. WHAT IS A '14ER' ? A 14er is a Mountain Peak that rises 14,000 feet above sea level. These are the highest peaks in the Lower 48 of the United States. The 14ers can be found in Colorado, California and Washington States. Colorado has 58 mountains over 14,000 feet (4,266 meters) in height but only 53 are noted as '14ers'. To qualify as a 14er the peak must be 300 feet higher than the saddle of an adjacent peak. California has 12 fourteeners, which are peaks with elevations of at least 14,000 feet. These peaks are primarily located in the Sierra Nevada and Cascade ranges. While some sources list 15, the generally accepted number is 12, with the others being peaks with lower prominence.
