This 1998 Chrysler Town & Country would not start for months. Every time the owner replaced the 20A Engine/ASD fuse, it would crank fine… but the second the engine tried to start, the fuse blew instantly and the van died again. They called me out to diagnose the no-start, and in this video I show the entire process — real time, real logic, and no parts guessing. 🔧 What We Found After checking fuses and confirming the complaint, I began unplugging components on the ASD circuit: • Fuel Injectors • Coil pack • O2 sensors • Alternator wiring • Harness feeds We eventually discovered the upstream O2 sensor harness had fallen off its bracket and melted onto the hot exhaust pipe, burning through all four of its wires and shorting them together. Even after cutting the upstream O2 connector, the fuse still blew. That led us deeper into the wiring loom where we found more melted conductor and corrosion on the same branch — including the alternator field wires. Once the damaged O2 wires were removed and the alternator field wires were cleaned, repaired, and reconnected, the ASD fuse stopped blowing, the engine stayed running, and the vehicle came back to life for the first time since September. 💡 Key Lessons in This Video ✔ Blown fuse means a short to ground, not a bad fuse ✔ ASD failures often come from O2 heater wires ✔ Alternator field feeds share the same circuit ✔ You don’t need to replace random parts — follow the logic ✔ A dead battery can hide a charging issue, so always test after repair ✔1998 Chrysler Caravan ASD fuse location ✔O2 sensor shorting out fuse ✔Chrysler 3.3L no start electrical troubleshooting 🧰 Tools Used Multimeter Socket set Wire cutters & tape Flashlight Basic fuses (always buy extra!) 👨🔧 Channel This repair is brought to you by Sanaan from DIYMechanicPro.
