*UPDATE 5/18* Another fix to the high pitched whine seems to be using a 3.5mm ground loop noise isolator. They're not overly expensive at about 8-9 dollars but here is an affiliate link to check one out on Amazon if you'd like to give it a shot. I haven't had a chance to test this yet but it is CERTAINLY a better solution than my 'unplug the charging cable' answer which isn't viable for wired controllers as some commenters have pointed out.
