If you mention the name Larry Bird today, your mind probably goes straight to the Boston Garden. You think of the three-time MVP, the legendary trash talker, and the man who, along with Magic Johnson, literally saved the NBA from the brink of collapse in the 1980s. But in the fall of 1975, the "legend" of Larry Bird was almost over before it even started.
