We’re working with a 2009 Yamaha YFZ450R, and this is a simple job that just takes a few minutes. Changing the rear brake pads on the YFZ450R starts by loosening the pins that hold the brake pads in place. It’s much easier to break them loose now when the caliper is still bolted to the carrier than when the caliper is just in your hand. Once the pins are loose, you’ll remove the caliper. Then, John will show you how to push the pistons in to make room for the new brake pads. Then, we’ll replace the pads and reinstall the caliper. The rear caliper on the YFZ450R is also equipped with a cable-driven parking brake. John will show you how to adjust the parking brake on your ATV to accommodate the new pads.
