We interviewed a few different pool companies and not many actually wanted to do a retrofit build, most did new builds only. We had an existing backyard that consisted of synthetic grass, a nice sand play area, and a wonderful Rainbow Play Systems set. The project started in 2021 and concluded in 2022. We've been using it (especially the spa) in the winter of 2022/2023. It is currently running in salt mode and has been great to maintain since it is completely automated. The controller is connected via wifi and also is integrated into my Home Assistant configuration. So you can use the Pentair IntelliCenter app if you want or just use Home Assistant.
