For several years now, the Parliamentary Internship Programme has had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. thanks to the generosity of the American Embassy in Ottawa. Interns meet their American counterparts -- the Congressional Fellows -- and spend an intensive week in the U.S. capital learning about the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government from the politicians, staffers and bureaucrats who make the wheels of government turn. They also meet with officials from the Canadian Embassy in Washington and see first-hand the importance of Canada-U.S. relations.
