College Bully Intimidated Me

Comment, like, share this story. When you leave middle school and high school behind, you expect that bullying, fear and intimidation are in the past. When you get to college, you expect that people will be open-minded, compassionate and mature. Unfortunately this in not always the case. It certainly wasn't for Omar. Omar was a student in college studying AMT, Aircraft Mechanics. He was a good student and had no issues with the school, teachers, his classes or other students, except for one. This one idiot guy was a bullying Omar and really enjoyed making his life miserable. The bully would hide in the class and jump out, scaring him. He'd sneak into the bathroom and yell as loud as he could scaring Omar. He'd even hide behind people, then jump out and scare him just to embarrass and humiliate him. Omar was not looking for any drama but he got it and from a college bully? Finally, Omar had enough of this behavior, so he went to the administration office of his college and complained to the College Student Services Management. Later the idiot bully confronted him about it after the school spoke with him about his bad behavior. Omar came clean immediately explaining that he had asked the bully to stop numerous times to which he never did. The bully responded in a cold and heartless way, "OKAY!" When he returned to class, many of the students and his classmates confronted him. They gave him grief for complaining about the bully saying "that's not cool" and "stop being a child," completely missing the impact of the bully's actions on Omar. None saw that the only victim here was Omar. The made him feel awkward, embarrassed and attacked again. And, the bully dialed up his bullying, doing it in new and more negative ways. He'd bully Omar behind his back just loud enough so Omar could hear what he was telling other people, horrible, hurtful things and rumors. This devastated Omar. He was embarrassed, humiliated, scared and his self esteem was at an all time low. The fear, hurt and anxiety was very real to him. He felt attacked and just to be left alone and treated like anyone else. And to make matters even worse, the bully formed a group of guys to bully him. So now instead of it just being one guy, a group of guys were against him. They made fun of him calling him a baby who needed his daddy and mommy, asking him if he was going to cry, and intimidating him wherever he went, including to his car in the parking lot. He left college that day, a total mess. Wait, this is college right? You'd think that people would outgrow bullying but this idiot bully was still immature. Omar made it back home where his Mother and Grandmother were waiting in the driveway. He did not want them to see how upset he was so he put on a fake smile. Faking it was really hard. He went up to his room and locked himself in. There he relived all the events he had just experienced from the bully and now group of bullies. He heard every one of their hurtful and mean words. He relived the fear and intimidation as well. Then his grandmother knocked on his door and invited him down to sit with she and his Mother, to join them for dessert. They could see something was wrong with Omar and asked him if everything was alright because it looked like something was bothering him. He did not hold back and told them the truth. He came clean and told them the whole truth, everything that had happened to him. He started to cry a little and his Grandmother spoke and gave him some wisdom. She told him that these mean guys, these bullies, would likely be begging for extra change someday when Omar would be successful and a good person.
