Our Solar Circuit webinar for Feb 2026 featured Dr. Craig DeForest, Principal Investigator of NASA’s PUNCH Mission. PUNCH (Polarimeter to UNify the Corona and Heliosphere) is a Southwest Research Institute–led Small Explorer mission launched in March 2025 that uses a constellation of four satellites in Sun-synchronous, low Earth orbit to capture global, 3D views of the entire inner heliosphere to learn how the Sun’s corona becomes the solar wind. By tracking how solar material evolves into the solar wind, PUNCH advances our ability to understand and forecast important space weather events like coronal mass ejections and solar flares.
