Ian Murphy, Technical Lead for the FS-AI (Formula Student Artificial Intelligence) competition, provides an update on the technology and hardware provided to student competitors. With thanks to additional funding and support from the UK’s Centre for Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), we are delighted to expand and upgrade the fleet of Autonomous Driving Systems Drone Vehicles (ADS-DV) that are provided to students, alongside new simulators for virtual dynamic testing. Without needing to build a vehicle of their own to test and optimise their code, the ADS-DV platform lowers the bar to entry so that more students can benefit from the learning opportunities of the competition and graduate with valuable skills and experience that meet the demands of the UK’s Connected Autonomous Mobility sector.
