Something that causes a captivating environment and space to behold, the aroma of the vineyards, of the pure air, of a delicious dish, the absence of noise, that is, silence or simply a delicate melody, pure flavors in the mouth and wines that excite; the touch of dreamy sheets, that of skin, smooth and soft, after a visit to the spa. The luxury of a sunset. All this, and much more, happens at Abadía Retuerta Le Domaine. In 1145, the aristocracy and piety marriage brought about the abbey when the Lord of Valladolid's daughter Doña Mayor donated "terras et vines" to the church. Abadía Santa Maria de Retuerta was built for the Premonstratensian Order. Baroque-Romanesque has a classic Benedictine layout of the church, cloister, refectory, chapterhouse, and hospedería. It is one of only two such abbeys to have survived Napoleon's destruction and is a treasured Spanish cultural heritage site. The recent abbey renovation respects the integrity of 1000 years of history. The original monastic uses of rooms were maintained, the Romanesque-Baroque architecture conserved, not altered. Opulent new furnishings, lighting, and climate control make modern guests feel at home without compromising the ancient site. "To alter this, the ancient edifice was to engage in a 1.000-year-old architectural dialogue. The judicious restraint of my intervention is my homage to those who spoke before me." – Marco Serra, Master Architect. LeDomaine's 27 double rooms and 3 suites have been carefully renovated and styled to contemporary five-star standards with every amenity you would expect in a luxury hotel in the ancient hall. Each accommodation has generous views overlooking wide expanses of vineyards and vividly changing Spanish skies. Establishing symbiotic harmony between people and nature was fundamental in Romanesque architecture and essential to the monks' lifestyle. Quiet harmony resonates throughout the whole of Domaine. A different gastronomic experience, in a place full of history, remains in the memory as an unforgettable memory. Five gastronomic experiences are presented in five exceptional settings, where gastronomy lovers will enjoy a journey through the area's traditional and contemporary culture. At the helm of the kitchens of all the spaces is the head chef, Marc Segarra, who has trained in restaurants of great prestige and international influence, working with the best chefs with a Michelin star in Spain. Segarra bases its culinary proposal on a game to achieve the perfect combination of the area's typical ingredients and the most innovative creative techniques. The Refectorio Restaurant - Awarded a Michelin star since 2014, relies on the products and producers of the area to present a gastronomic proposal that follows current contemporary creative lines. In addition, it has 2 Repsol Guide Suns. In 2020 it achieved its first Green star. An icon of a green five-leaf clover represents this recognition granted to other outstanding restaurants on the national scene. This is a distinction that Michelin awards to those restaurants that are committed to sustainability and apply responsible practices to the environment.
