The Missouri Osteochondral Preservation System (MOPS) helps overcome some challenges of patient-matched osteochondral allografts. The consistently high chondrocyte viability in MOPS grafts at the time of transplantation is considered to be a major factor contributing to successful outcomes.* Studies show that grafts with greater than 70% chondrocyte viability at the time of implantation result in significantly higher success rates for osteochondral allograft transplant procedures.* In the initial clinical comparison study performed to compare chondrocyte viability prior to transplantation in patients, MOPS grafts maintained 98.8% chondrocyte viability on average for up to 55 days, which is much higher than the desired minimum essential viability level. By comparison, the standard of care from other tissue banks showed an average chondrocyte viability of 22.9% by the 28 day mark.* MOPS has been shown to have at least a 56 day shelf life, increasing the opportunity to match allografts to patients and providing more time to schedule surgery.* MOPS is available from MTF Biologics, where better donor screening and processing have resulted in over 9 million allografts distributed with no transmittable diseases. *Data on file.
