The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows: The southwestern Cape is getting hit with heavy rain and strong winds today as a powerful cold front rolls in, while ahead of it storms are dumping 30 to 50 mm across the Northern Cape, Free State and Eastern Cape with flooding expected in places, though KwaZulu-Natal stays baking hot until the front arrives. There’s an Orange Level 5 warning for the Northern Cape Province, western Free State and North West where severe storms could flood roads and bridges and damage homes in both urban and rural areas, a Yellow Level 2 for eastern and northern Northern Cape, central and western Free State Province, western North West Province, and central and eastern Eastern Cape where storms will cause localized flooding, another Level 2 between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas for dangerous waves that’ll make sailing tricky and disrupt beach activities, and a Level 1 for far southern KwaZulu-Natal Province where storms may bring heavy downpours, gusty winds, lightning and hail.
