Veterinarian Dr Melissa Meehan shares her expert pet health advice about Roundworm in dogs, which is a very common internal parasite, infecting most dogs at some point in their life. Roundworm infects dogs of all ages but most commonly puppies. Roundworm symptoms in dogs can vary from very mild to severe. Dr Mel explains that symptoms of roundworm in dogs can include a pot belly or abdominal pain, coughing, diarrhoea and vomiting, a dull coat and weight loss. Worms can also sometimes be seen in your dog's poop or vomit. Roundworm can also be transmitted to humans, so it is important to maintain good hygiene practices at all times. Dr Mel explains the importance of keeping your dog's worming up to date, to keep your dog healthy and worm-free. She recommends the use of a monthly total parasite preventative as the best way to prevent your dog becoming infected with roundworm.
