I've talked before about how this dementia caregiving journey is like a roller coaster… It has ups and downs, soaring emotional highs and crashing lows, and everything in between. There's also an element of lack of control and predictability in life, as sometimes shows up in care helper schedules issues. I treasure my care helpers… They are so compassionate, professional, and capable, but sometimes life gets in the way, and they can't make it, and losing a scheduled free morning can really throw me for a loop. On the other hand, sometimes I get an amazing day to myself when, for example, our daughter Kate says she's going to take over for a day. This video follows Heather and me over a period of three days… It's not always in perfect chronological order; remember, this is a Vlog, and it's not a big production. I tried to show some more intimate moments here, things that some of you might feel should be more private, but I am firmly comfortable with sharing these things as I know it helps a lot of you, and for me, it's a form of therapy as well. BACKGROUND Heather first started showing the very first signs of memory issues in early 2021, and in October 2021 she received the diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia, which is a form of frontotemporal dementia. Her cognitive decline since then has been rapid and steady, as frequently happens with early onset dementia.
