Last time I tested the 3L Duramax the truck was outfitted with the 3.73 gears and the max to package which will or should hurt fuel economy so today we are doing it all over again. my fuel economy loop consist of city, country and highway driving which should give a fair fuel economy figure to this 2025 chevy silverado with the 3L duramax. I discuss why diesel engine are more efficient including the tremendous low end torque which allows the engine to stay nice and low in the rpm band when accelerating. diesel fuel in general just has more energy in it then gas and lastly diesel engine are more thermally efficient meaning they transfer more energy into mechanic rotation then a gas engine and for all these reasons this is why we saw the 3L duramax engine crush all the other engines in the 1500 segment when it comes to fuel economy! and this is why the 3L Duramax is the most efficient full size truck!
