A man flying an ultralight airplane crashes into Lake James Wednesday night and two fishermen rescue him from the water. It happened between the Moose Lodge and Black Bear access area in McDowell County near Marion. Shortly before sunset, two brothers were fishing from their pontoon boat when they heard the ultralight approach them. They say the engine died and it fell right in front of them. Troopers say the fishermen saw the plane sink, but the pilot managed to escape and began treading water. The fishermen took action, pulling their pontoon boat over to the pilot and pulling him into the boat.Troopers identify the pilot as 54-year-old Keith Wright, who was not injured in the accident. Rescue workers found the ultralight Wednesday night and pulled it out of the lake.No charges have been filed against the pilot and the FAA does not plan to investigate the incident.
