It’s been twenty-five years since Beòlach officially came together after first stepping onto the Festival Club stage for an impromptu session during Celtic Colours in 1999. And their signature blend of lively tunes, tight arrangements, and charismatic chemistry has been lighting up rooms ever since. Now one of Cape Breton’s most celebrated traditional groups, this special anniversary concert marks a significant milestone in their musical journey. Tonight’s concert will feature Beòlach’s current lineup of Wendy MacIsaac, Mairi Rankin, Mac Morin, and Matt MacIsaac as well as appearances from some very special guests. The show will present music spanning their entire career, from the very first track recorded on their self-titled album to some unreleased music that they have been working on just this year. The band is excited to have original band members Ryan J. MacNeil, Patrick Gillis, and Mattie Foulds, along with Kenneth MacKenzie and Boyd MacNeil joining them for a night of music arranged, and in some cases composed, by all of these incredibly talented musicians. They are also excited to welcome friends of the band, Mary Jane Lamond and Heather Rankin, to the stage to lend their gorgeous voices to the evening. Highland dance company Change of Step have done some beautiful choreography to Beòlach’s music over the years and have performed with them many times. The members of Beòlach are thrilled to have them in this concert to show exactly why this music is made for dancing.
