A trip on public boat transportation in Venice, anticlockwise, from near St Marks (Giardini) round, past the Arsenale which was the largest driving interest for me in visiting Venice. The Arsenal is the structure that was the Venetian's "maritime, constructive engine" able to produce more than one significant, ocean capable--rigged, crewed, provisioned, ready--vessel per day. In the fourteen hundreds! Able to carry goods from the east to Europe, and missionaries or armies to the east--profit both directions! There is a phenomenal history behind what this "structure" enabled the Venetians to achieve.
