The people of Rangamati have never seen the plan of the tourism corporation to build a new bridge or increase the height of the bridge every year. Talking to Mohd Sohail, commercial officer of the tourism corporation, he said that the crossing of the bridge has been closed for tourists since the morning of September 19 as the water level in Kaptai Lake has risen and the suspension bridge is in danger of sinking. The official of the tourism corporation did not comment on the plan for the bridge, though he said that the bridge would be closed to traffic due to rising water levels in the lake.
