On Sunday the 5th of November 2017 at 11:30am local time, At least 26 people have been killed, & dozens of others wounded by a gunman named as Devin Patrick Kelley at 216 4th St, First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, United States of America. Sheriff Joe Tackitt said there have been multiple fatalities from Sunday's incident, including the gunman. Police were responding to a "shots fired" call to the First Baptist Church late Sunday morning. Eyewitnesses on social media said the incident took place at 11:30 a.m. local time. Eyewitnesses reported at least 20 shots were fired. Amanda Morsel, whose 13-year-old goddaughter was among those shot, told the San Antonio Express News that the church has roughly 50 parishioners. "From what I've heard, someone just walked in & started shooting," she said. "It's a small, tight-knit church." Sutherland Springs is a town with a population of roughly 362, & is located 35 miles east of San Antonio. According to the church's website, there was a worship service Sunday morning that began at 11 a.m. The daughter of the church’s pastor Annabelle Pomeroy, age 14 & a two-year-old toddler are among the at least 26 dead. Sunday's incident would mark the fifth deadliest mass shooting in the last 50 years in the United States. Sunday's incident comes just five weeks after the deadliest mass shooting in recent US history shook Las Vegas, with 58 people killed. The shooting is the deadliest mass killing at a place of worship in modern American history, surpassing the nine killed at Emanuel AME Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015. The gunman's motive is unknown, & authorities have not said whether Sunday's incident was terror related. Wilson County commissioner Albert Gamez Jr. told a CNN reporter that the gunman fled in a vehicle after the shooting & is now dead after a brief pursuit. Authorities have preliminarily identified the shooter as a "white male in his mid-20s from outside San Antonio." Devin Patrick Kelley has been identified as the gunman who opened fire on a church in Texas, a U.S. official tells The Daily Beast. Kelley, 26, was a resident of New Braunfels, a suburb of San Antonio, according to public records. Kelley was married. San Antonio police reportedly raided Kelley's home on Sunday evening.
