NOT TO BE MISSED|STUNNING CHESHIRE VIEWS BY HELICOPTER OVER FOOTBALLERS HOME|FULL ATC|COMMENTARY

In this first part of a three-part helicopter adventure, we depart MANCHESTER HELIPORT at BARTON AERODROME (EGCB) G-HVRZ, my EUROCOPTER EC120 HELICOPTER, for a short but fascinating flight into Manchester’s controlled airspace on a spectacular blue-sky day. After lifting from the HELIPORT we track south-west toward the NORTH WEST TRANSIT CORRIDOR, passing over the impressive THELWALL VIADUCT before routing toward the CHESHIRE countryside. From the cockpit we enjoy incredible aerial views of ARLEY HALL AND GARDENS and several stunning Cheshire estates as we position for entry into the Manchester Airport Control Zone. With MANCHESTER AIRPORT running busy airline operations, I negotiate a zone entry clearance with Manchester ATC, guiding the HELICOPTER carefully through controlled airspace and inside their 2-nautical-mile Aerodrome Traffic Zone, just south of the active runway. On the approach we pass over one particularly famous footballer’s extraordinary property, a landmark that many locals will instantly recognise from the air. Our destination is a private landing site owned by a business acquaintance, where I’m stopping briefly for a meeting before continuing west toward the mountains. This flight forms Part 1 of a three-part Cheshire and Welsh helicopter runaround, and the adventure is only just beginning. In the next episode we depart the Cheshire countryside and head deep into the Welsh valleys for some spectacular helicopter flying you won’t want to miss.
