Indira Gole Gurung Indira Gole Gurung (1966 – 2025) was a legendary Nepali folk singer, best known for her contribution to Tamang Selo, Dohori, and Nepali folk music. Born in Bhardeu, Lalitpur, she began singing at a young age and quickly rose to fame with her powerful voice and deep connection to culture. Her career flourished with albums like Changu Narayanthan, Safa Tempori, and Hamro Damphu Selo, which became household favorites. She trained professionally in vocal music, worked with Radio Nepal, and even performed as part of the Royal Palace Musical Team (1995–2003). Indira received several prestigious awards, including multiple Image Awards for Best Song in Tamang language and a Hits FM Award for Folk Song. She also founded Sangam Digital Studio, helping young talents in Nepali music. Beyond music, she was an active cultural leader, serving as Vice President of the Nepal Tamang Artists’ Association, and worked tirelessly to preserve Tamang and Nepali folk traditions. Even while battling cancer, she inspired hope through music until her passing on September 3, 2025.
