Once the site of a Buganda royal palace, the cathedral’s foundation was laid in 1889 following a land donation by Kabaka Daniel Mwanga II to the French missionaries, setting in motion a decade-long construction that culminated in the consecration of St. Mary’s Cathedral Lubaga in 1925.
