A clivo-axial angle or CXA (also known as a clivo-canal angle) is a measurement taken between the clivus of the anterior skull base and the posterior aspect of the dens (C2). It represents the dregee of forward roation of the skull or the retroversion of the dens. A Normal CXA is usually considered to be under 135 degrees, although newer research shows that a more accurate value for normal may be below 128 degrees. Values close to 120 degrees can place excessive pulling force on the medulla and upper cervical spinal cord. Dr. Centeno practices at the Centeno-Schultz clinic, which is one of the founders of a new field of medicine called interventional orthobiologics., These are precise image-guided injections of PRP, stem cells, and other natural substances to help ligaments, tendons, and joints heal.
