Register Here and Share with Friends and Family! Guest Speakers: Kari Wurth (she/her) is a Forest Health Technician with the Department of Natural Resources, Forest Service. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, she found her calling in conservation and natural resource management. While studying Environmental Science and Technology at the University of Maryland, she was offered the opportunity to lead a crew of military veterans in the MD DNR Veterans Conservation Corps, where she discovered the fulfillment of hands-on restoration work. In her current role, Kari focuses on forest restoration, invasive species control, reforestation, and pest management. She’s also passionate about workforce development and enjoys mentoring others in caring for natural spaces and building conservation careers. Lindsey Cathcart (they/them) is the Forest Resilience Manager at Rock Creek Conservancy, where they have been working to restore Rock Creek through invasive plant management and reforestation since 2021. Prior to working with RCC, Lindsey has managed educational programs for the North American Invasive Species Management Association, and has a background in ecological research and biodiversity monitoring. A champion for small, oft-overlooked wildlife, Lindsey has a BS in insect ecology and conservation from the University of Delaware and loves exploring the beautiful mountains, piedmont, and beaches of the Chesapeake Bay region in search for new and exciting bugs.
