"Hurricane Fighter Plane" performed by The CRAMPS Written by : Rick Barthleme, Steve Cunningham, Mayo Thompson Recorded in January 1977 at Max's Kansas City - New York City From a single of dubious origin The CRAMPS are : Lux Interior : vocals Ivy Rorschach : guitar Bryan Gregory : guitar Miriam Linna : drums The song was originally recorded by the band Red Crayola, and appeared on their album "The Parable of Arable Land" in 1967 YouTube needs another CRAMPS video like the desert needs another bucket of sand...for that I sincerely apologise. That said, I'm simply using this as an opportunity to say "Thank You" to Miriam Linna. Miriam spent a year of her young life making an important contribution to American music history. As co-founding member of The CRAMPS, she helped draw the band's blueprint, pour the foundation, and set the cornerstone for what would become America's greatest rock and roll band. She also learned how to play the traps (drums) in the process. During the band's infancy, Miriam performed some forty shows, including their debut at CBGB. She was present when Richard Robinson produced The CRAMPS first formal demo recording. In addition; Robinson's publication Rock Scene gave her and the band several consecutive write-ups during 1977, even before the band had ventured outside New York City...we were forewarned of the unknown. Miriam also appeared in the Amos Poe film "The Foreigner" in 1977 along with her band mates as thugs. Not too shabby for a years effort huh? Upon her departure from The CRAMPS, she inherited The Flamin' Groovies Fan Club from Greg Shaw, and became a gifted and noted music journalist. She also published along with her husband Billy Miller; seven hi-octane, action-packed issues of KICKS magazine. They also co-founded Norton Records together, and helped artist like Andre Williams and the late Hasil Adkins become household names. Norton currently publishes the new book by Nick Tosches "Save the Last Dance for Satan". Thanks Miriam for all you have done, and continue to do. Between you and The CRAMPS, you opened many doors for me which I continue to walk through and explore. You both kept me from becoming culturally bankrupt. Thanks again Miriam, you're truly "The Rockinist Gal in the Galaxy" ! Perhaps the above will open a few doors also...
