This DIY bench power supply is designed to deliver stable and adjustable output voltage and current, making it suitable for electronics projects, lab testing, and industrial automation work. For this project, I have used a professionally manufactured 6 layer PCB to ensure better power handling capability, reduced noise, improved thermal performance, and stable high current operation. The PCB stack-up includes dedicated power and ground planes which help in minimizing voltage drops and electromagnetic interference, making the power supply more reliable and efficient compared to standard 2 layer or 4 layer boards. The PCB for this project was manufactured by JLCPCB. Their 6 layer PCB service offers high quality fabrication with accurate layer alignment, good copper thickness control, and excellent finishing. Using a multi-layer PCB is very useful in high power electronics projects where proper current distribution and grounding are important for safety and performance. I have also designed a custom enclosure for this variable power supply and 3D printed it to give a professional look and proper protection to internal components. The enclosure includes space for cooling, mounting points for the PCB, front panel cutouts, and proper cable management to maintain safety and usability. The enclosure parts were printed using a Bambu Lab 3D printer which provides very good surface finish and dimensional accuracy. I purchased this Bambu Lab printer from the Robu website, and it helped me achieve a strong and clean enclosure suitable for electronic product development. This complete build process includes PCB designing, ordering the 6 layer board from JLCPCB, assembling the electronic components, and designing and printing the custom enclosure. This project is very useful for anyone who wants to build a high performance adjustable bench power supply at home with professional level construction. If you are interested in DIY electronics, power supply design, PCB designing, and 3D printing for electronics projects, this video will guide you through the complete process of making your own powerful variable power supply from scratch.
