South Africa's Professor Dire Tladi has been sworn in to serve as a judge on the International Court of Justice - the first South African to serve in that capacity. He was elected after several ballots were conducted in both the UN General Assembly and the Security Council simultaneously. The ICJ also referred to as the World Court, which sits in the Hague, comprises 15 judges elected for a nine-year term. It settles disputes between states under international law and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues. Professor Tladi spoke to our SABC News' International Editor, Sophie Mokoena before he headed to the Netherlands. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
