I’ve been fascinated by that idea forever. Now, for my first experiment with GenAI video, I decided to explore it. I’m excited to introduce "Pulse"—my short film homage to the Golden Record, our planet, our music, and the cosmos. My goal wasn't just to create cool AI visuals, but to push these tools (and myself) to tell a story with heart. For years, this idea was sitting in my drawer. A high-budget sci-fi short I never had the means to make. Thanks to AI, that's no longer an excuse. The process was mind-blowing, fulfilling, and sure, sometimes a bit frustrating. I consider this to be the beginning of my AI filmmaking journey, so if you're exploring these tools, have questions, or just want to talk about storytelling, aliens or the Universe, drop a comment or DM me. I'm eager to connect! A few key learnings from this adventure: Human storytelling is king. The tools are incredibly powerful executors, but the vision, nuance, and attention to detail must come from the human. (Pro-tip: Prompting an AI with “Alien finds golden record” won’t get you very far!) There are no more excuses. That idea you've been sitting on? The tools are here to help you bring it to life. And that's incredibly exciting. I handled the entire workflow from script to final tweaks, and it roughly went like this: I wrote the script the old-fashioned way, then generated keyframes for each shot (mostly with Google Nano Banana and Flux Kontext through Freepik), then upscaled using Magnific AI, and then created the shots with Google VEO 2 and VEO 3 in Flow, and then edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Voices/dialog were created in ElevenLabs.
