#Delhimetro #Delhicrime #pitampura #chandnichowk #Kashmirigate If you also travel by the Delhi Metro, then this news is extremely important for you. This incident related to the checking point at Chandni Chowk Metro Station is a serious warning for all passengers. A shocking case of theft involving jewelry worth nearly ₹20 lakh has come to light from here. According to the information received, on January 22 at around 5:30 pm, a craftsman was traveling from Chandni Chowk to Pitampura to deliver gold and diamond jewelry. During the security check at the metro station, his black bag suddenly went missing. The bag contained jewelry worth approximately 20 lakh. It is reported that the bag had two gold bangles weighing 65 grams each, one gold bracelet, one gold ring, three gold pendants, one diamond bracelet, and around 40 to 45 diamonds. This incident is a major warning for metro यात्रियों. Every day, thousands of people commute through the Delhi Metro. Amid this crowd, on January 22, 2026, an incident occurred that once again brought the metro’s security arrangements and police vigilance into discussion. The case involved the theft of a bag filled with jewelry worth about ₹20 lakh, which took place at Kashmere Gate Metro Station. On that day, a trader was traveling by metro carrying a bag full of valuable gold jewelry from Chandni Chowk Market. Amid security checks and the rush of passengers at the metro station, a few moments of negligence proved costly. When he checked his belongings, the bag containing the jewelry was missing. He immediately lodged a complaint at Kashmere Gate Metro Police Station, and a case was registered under Section 303 of the BNS. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a special team was formed by Kashmere Gate Metro Police Station along with the Special Staff. The police team first began examining the CCTV footage from Chandni Chowk Metro Station. After hours of effort, the footage revealed a woman wearing a pink jacket and black pants. She was seen picking up a jewelry bag in a suspicious manner and boarding a metro train heading towards Millennium City Centre. The investigation did not stop there. The police checked CCTV footage from all major stations along the metro route. Internal CCTV footage from Barakhamba Metro Station revealed that the same woman traveled up to Noida Sector-52 Metro Station and exited through Gate No. 2. This made it clear that the accused had gone from Delhi towards Noida. Another crucial clue was found in the footage. The woman was carrying a shopping bag from a store named “Radhika Collection,” located in Chandni Chowk Market. The police team immediately contacted the shop owner. Based on the information received from the shop, the identity and location of the woman were traced. Soon after, the police took the accused woman into custody. During questioning, she claimed that she had gone to Chandni Chowk with her family for wedding shopping for a relative. During baggage scanning at the metro station, she allegedly picked up an extra bag by mistake and took it home. However, she could not explain why she did not inform anyone about such a valuable bag. After strict police questioning, the entire jewelry bag was finally recovered in safe condition. All the gold jewelry worth approximately ₹20 lakh was found intact. The investigation also revealed that the accused has no prior criminal record. This case proved that even a small lapse while traveling in the Delhi Metro can turn into a major incident. At the same time, it also showed that due to the alertness of the Delhi Police, technical investigation, and swift action, offenders cannot evade the law for long. The police are now proceeding with further legal action against the accused. In conclusion, it is important to clearly state that the confirmation of theft by the woman has not yet been established. However, it is evident that there were serious lapses at multiple levels in this entire incident. The first and biggest lapse was carrying such a large quantity of gold and diamonds in a public transport system like the metro without adequate security and vigilance. The second lapse was negligence in handling the bag, where proper care was not taken while placing another bag. The third and most important question is—whose mistake was it: the metro staff’s, the craftsman carrying the jewelry, or the woman who picked up the bag and did not inform anyone even after taking it away? This case is a major warning that even a small act of carelessness can lead to a serious crisis.
