Sam Mathew | 19 April 2022 • Philip 3:21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. • 3 forms of God’s power we see: • Power to subdue everything • Flowing, moving power • Redeeming power • My God gives me strength, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. • Who gets strength? • God strengthens the praying man • Worship strengthens us. • Isa 40: He who waits on the Lord shall renew their strength. • Neh: The joy of the Lord is our strength. Increasing in the Lord’s joy increases our strength • Obedience to Word brings strength. • When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you shall receive power (strength) from above. • Paul says, when he was weak, God’s grace strengthened him. So he encourages the believer to strengthen himself in God’s grace. • God’s Word tells us that all things are subject to those with power. Not some issues, but all things are subdued under us. • 1 cor 6:13 “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. ..By his power, God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also • I will not be brought under the power of the enemy. My family, health, and my job cannot be subject to the evil one – not his tricks or curses, not addictions, depression, sickness, nothing. I have the power of God. • When God created man, He made him to rule over and subdue all. Bot the other way around. • Heb 2:5 It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little[a] lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” • Others will see me and say, God has placed all under his feet. • On Jesus’ shoulders rested the government, and we, along with Him, hold up authority, not burdens or worries. Paul says - In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. • Yet there is a problematic statement afterward v8. Yet at present, we do not see everything subject to them. This is because the man who was called to reign chose to sin instead. We lost trust in God’s promise and heard satan’s words instead. • Peter could walk on the stormy sea, but he began to sink when he doubted. Let us not consider what others say, what the news says, what doctors or politicians say. Their Word is not of value, but what matters is God’s Word. That is final. • I bring all thoughts that speak against God into subjection under Christ’s obedience. It is not my understanding that will solve this problem, but my faith, my prayer life, my anointing; it’s all His grace! V9. But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. • Because Jesus died for me, I am crowned with power; the government rests on my shoulders. • At the cross, we see a feast of victory. Col 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. • The power that drove ELiojahs feet faster than Ahab’s horses reigns in me. The energy that made Samson tear apart lions and defeat armies by himself is in me. • The second form of God’s power is His flowing, moving power. It can be compared to kinetic energy, power in motion. Oil in hand versus oil in the fire- the anointing is not merely to clap hands during worship but to live and exhibit the power of God in this world. • Not using this power is like a battery placed on the table and not in a clock, which can govern our very lives. • Eph 1:19 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength • -This power is for those who believe • -It is an inconceivably great power • -it reaches even to the grave • 1 cor 6:12 - but I will not be mastered by anything!
