ALBANY The leadership of the New York State Senate is planning an early, just after midnight, vote Wednesday to pass the remainder of the bills associated with the 2013-2014 state budget. The Senate held a rare Sunday session to pass the first three printed bills of the budget. Because of the mandatory 72 hour aging period another budget bill that deals with health will not be ready for vote until Tuesday. All the rest will be ready Wednesday. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, R-Long Island, says the Senate plans to vote Tuesday evening on the health bill, gavel out of session, and then back in just after midnight Wednesday to pass the remaining bills. I think it is important to move forward, people want to see an on time budget, said Skelos Monday. We have done it two years past, now this will be the third early budget. If all goes as planned the Senate will pass the non controversial budget early Wednesday morning and be out of Albany and home for the Easter weekend. I don't think it is typical Albany the bills are aging for three days, said Senator Tom Libous, R-Binghamton. It used to be we would do the bills at two in the morning and they just came out, they were just hot off the press. These bills have been out three days. Three early budgets, that is not typical Albany. The Assembly will be back in session Thursday to take up the budget. They will have four days to pass the bills to have an on time budget.
