If we want to be as prepared as possible for the mountain bike season to come, we’re going to be spending some time on the road over the winter. Well, probably a lot of time. And having the right bike for the job makes it a lot more fun. Today, we’ll be building up my new Ari Suncrest, and then taking it for a bit of an adventure to test the concept – will this bike allow me to keep up with Macky on his gravel bike? The Suncrest is the newest addition to Ari’s road line, and with a frame weight of around 700 gram (yes, GRAMS!), it is both light, versatile and built for all day rides. The balance of comfort and lightness is exactly what I want, since, coming from a mountain bike background, I’m not super comfortable in an aggressive aero postion. I went with the 12 speed shimano Duraace di2 build which means wireless, electronic shifting. The final build, with NOBL CR35 wheels and berd spokes, should weigh in around 16.5lbs or 7.5 kg.
