Does Your Age Really Matter? | Vivian Dang | TEDxYouth@AISVN

Ageism, a belief where one is discriminated based on their age, has always been a pressing issue in society. Starting from 16 to where she is now, Vivian has made a stance for herself as an entrepreneur at the age of 20, and so she wanted to share her experience with the world, and how we shouldn’t follow the conventional beliefs that society set for us. We can break free for ourselves and escape from the mold that we all have been fabricated in. In our world today, people expect different things from different age groups. However, do we need to really obey the conventional rules that are set out in which we are uncertain of its origin? Ageism has always been a tool to stereotype what people can do based on their age but it shouldn’t be a determining factor to limit what humans can do. You don’t need to be 18 to go to university, you don’t need to graduate at 22, or even settle down before 30. Society is a mold that we don’t necessarily have to stay in. We can fly from our cages and break free like how Gabriella and Troy did even at a very young age.
