You may have heard horror stories about visit Greece in the summer months. In this video, I'll show you what it’s really like, and why the summer months are still a great time to visit. For a complete guide, visit: https://www.jaredsdetours.com/greece-... ⏰ Video Timeline ⏰ 00:00: Intro to Greece in Summer 00:15 Benefits of a Trip to Greece in Summer 00:30 Drawbacks of Summer in Greece 00:42 Athens in the Summer 01:37 Greek Isles in the Summer 01:49 Picking Uncrowded Islands 02:03 Skiathos in Summer 02:19 Skopelos in Summer 02:28 Summer Temperatures in Greece The benefits of visiting Greece in summer include sunny, dry weather which is perfect for boating and beaches. Plus, more ferries are running to more islands, and all of the hotels and restaurants are fully-staffed for summer crowds. The drawbacks of a summertime visit to Greece include the heat, higher hotel rates, and the fact that ferries can sometimes sell-out. Lines form at the Acropolis year-round, regardless of the season. Bring water and slather on the SPF, because it’s a hot hike up, with very little shade. You’ll see people huddled under the trees in the one shady spot here, or drinking water from the fountain. They actually have people stationed around the site, watching for any heat-related emergencies. And, the Acropolis closes when temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius, which is nearly 105 degrees Fahrenheit. A visit to Greece in the summer has to include a flight or ferry to the islands. While Americans flock to Mykonos and Santorini, if you’re looking for smaller crowds, pick an island like Skiathos or Skopelos. Websites like Ferry Hopper can help you figure out your options, and I’d book before your trip since again- some of the ferries do sell out. Something to keep in mind: the weather is different whether you’re on mainland Greece or the islands. On Skopelos, the high will likely be in the low 80s, while in Athens it’s 95.
