How to Care for San Pedro Cactus Indoors The San Pedro cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi / Echinopsis pachanoi) is a fast-growing, sacred columnar cactus native to the Andes. While it thrives outdoors in sunny climates, it can also be successfully grown indoors with the right care. ☀️ Light Place your San Pedro cactus near the brightest south-facing window possible. It needs at least 6–8 hours of bright light daily. If natural light is weak, supplement with a full-spectrum grow light. 💧 Watering Use the soak and dry method: water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely. During the growing season (spring/summer), water every 10–14 days indoors. In winter, reduce to once every 4–6 weeks as the cactus rests. 🪴 Soil & Pot Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent mix. Add extra perlite, pumice, or sand to avoid root rot. Pot must have drainage holes. Clay pots work best since they allow excess moisture to escape. 🌡️ Temperature & Humidity Ideal indoor range: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Can tolerate cooler nights but avoid below 50°F (10°C). Keep in a dry, well-ventilated area — no humid bathrooms or kitchens. 🌱 Fertilizer Use a cactus fertilizer (low in nitrogen, higher in potassium & phosphorus). Apply every 4–6 weeks in spring/summer. Stop fertilizing in fall/winter. ✂️ Growth & Maintenance San Pedro grows quickly indoors if given enough light. Rotate pot regularly for even column growth. If it grows too tall, you can take cuttings to root new plant.. full tutorial i n books order from website
