King Louis IX of France, also known as Saint Louis, was born on April 25, 1214. He became king in 1226 at the age of 12, with his mother, Blanche of Castile, acting as regent until he reached maturity. Known for his piety, justice, and efforts to centralize royal power, Louis IX sought to improve the administration of the realm and strengthen the monarchy. Louis led two major Crusades: the Seventh Crusade (1248–1254) and the Eighth Crusade (1270). Although both were unsuccessful, they highlighted his commitment to his faith and the Christian world. His domestic policies included the establishment of a more efficient legal system, the introduction of presumption of innocence in court, and efforts to curb corruption. He was canonized as a saint in 1297, largely due to his deep religious devotion, charitable works, and efforts to enforce Christian morals. Louis IX died on August 25, 1270, in Tunis during the Eighth Crusade. His legacy as a just and devout ruler continues to be celebrated in French history. #LouisIX #SaintLouis #KingOfFrance #MedievalHistory #FrenchHistory #Crusades #PiousKing #RoyalJustice #ChristianKing #HistoricalFigures #greatesthits #greatestofalltime #anythinghistory
