Thailand Earthquake & Aftershock - Chiang Mai

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, around 12:50 PM local time. The epicenter was near Mandalay, approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Chiang Mai, Thailand. The quake caused significant damage in Myanmar, with early reports indicating over 1,000 fatalities and more than 2,380 injuries. In Bangkok, a high-rise building under construction collapsed during the shaking, resulting in several deaths and injuries. In Chiang Mai, the quake was felt strongly. While filming this vlog, an aftershock occurred — one of several expected in the 72 hours following the main quake. It's been about 32 hours since the event. No fatalities have been reported in Chiang Mai, though some buildings, including the one I was in — built in the 1980s before Thailand enforced modern earthquake codes — sustained minor damage but remain stable. While editing this video, I saw footage of the collapse in Bangkok and I cried. It was hard to watch. This video is a personal record of what happened here in Chiang Mai.
