Although five songs were recorded over two days at Radio Recorders' studio B in Hollywood on 7 and 8 November 1960 for insertion into Elvis' 1961 movie "Wild In The Country" only three made it into the movie including the title song played over the opening credits. The first song to be heard in the main body of the movie is the bouncy "I Slipped, I Stumbled I Fell" and like many of the movie songs associated with Elvis more than one version was recorded. Although eighteen takes were performed by Elvis and the band, the first thirteen were in a higher key and the thirteenth take was chosen as the RCA master. Normal practice would be to assign a different matrix number to a separate version after the recording of a master but strangely in the lower key the original matrix number was maintained and the alternate master, used in the movie, would be chosen from the eighteenth and final take. The lower key alternate master would be one minute and forty seconds in length, but in the movie just over the first minute would be used before fading into the next scene. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
