Making a Sterling Silver Boulder Opal Pendant from Scratch
Watch me handsetting this beautiful Australian Yowah Boulder Opal to create a unique piece of jewellery that really allows the natural colours and patterns of the stone to shine through. My way of making this silver pendant is a little different to most as I set the stone back to front. I've found that this allows me to concentrate more on the framing the stone - like a sterling silver picture frame. I currently prefer this way to the traditional cabochon bezel setting technique as it's more adaptable to the freeform nature of boulder opals.
