Suite da Camera, Op. 73 [2023] for bassoon and ensemble I Polifonia II Toccata III Melodia IV Monodia Ensemble Contemporâneo da Póvoa de Varzim Maestro|Conductor: Nuno Coelho Fagote|Bassoon: Cândida Nunes gravação ao vivo | live recording Cine-teatro Garret, Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal 07/07/2024 www.nelson-jesus.com Esta suite esteve inicialmente prevista para 6 andamentos, contudo acabou por fugir dessa matriz que ainda a colaria mais a uma pastiche neo-barroca. Geralmente tenho grandes detalhes e histórias escondidas para contar nas notas de programa, contudo, nesta peça apenas deixei fluir a música pela música. Reforço apenas questões que colam os sons aos títulos dados em cada andamento. I. Polifonia - uma pequena obsessão por cânones e imitações que cria uma teia onde o fagote e alguns instrumentos sombra se exprimem. II. Toccata - uma articulada e mecânica corrida entre todos os instrumentos. III. Melodia - serve de andamento central da peça e é neste que a música não é tão abstracta. Há uma tentativa de mostrar a alma poveira e a sua relação com o mar. IV. Monodia - aqui não há um diálogo entre o concertista e o ensemble (reduzido a sopros) há antes um colorir e pontuar da linha do fagote que parece estar num monólogo. - - - - - - This suite was initially planned with 6 movements, however it ended up deviating from this matrix which would have made it more of a neo-baroque pastiche. I usually have great details and hidden stories to tell in the program notes, however, in this piece I just let the music flow for the music's sake. I only reinforce questions that glue the sounds to the titles given in each movement. I. Polyphony - a small obsession with canons and imitations that creates a web where the bassoon and some shadow instruments express themselves. II. Toccata - an articulate and mechanical run between all instruments. III. Melody - serves as the central movement of the piece and this is where the music is not so abstract. There is an attempt to show the soul of Póvoa's inhabitants and its relationship with the sea. IV. Monody - here there is no dialogue between the concertist and the ensemble (reduced to winds) there is rather a coloring and punctuation of the bassoon line that seems to be in a monologue. This piece won second prize at the 16th Festival Internacional da Póvoa de Varzim. NJ
