Rather than using the familiar and infamous LM308, Electrofoods went about designing its own discrete opamp from the ground up, purpose built for making the gnarl and snarl. But they didn't stop there. The Nepenthes includes a clipping toggle that brings Zener diodes into the mix for an overdrive-like clarity that you won't find in any other pedal of this type. There's also the Nectar footswitch, which offers an additional gain stage with a dedicated boost knob, and a 3-way toggle to select between a trio of distinct EQ profiles. Roll the boost down to merely change the voicing, or push it for extra growl and chunge. The Electrofoods Nepenthes is excellent for bass, baritone, and down-tuned instruments, as well as keys, electric zither, or whatever you wanna plug into it.
